Whether you're a local or planning on visiting Brighton this year, here is a list of some of my favourite cafes in my home town.
Based in Both Brighton and Lewes, Trading Post offers amazing coffee, great costumer service and a fantastic choice of food. Due to it's consistency, it tends to be my go-to choice
Also recently opened a new location in Lewes, the Hove site has an interior to die for. Perfect for every occasion, with dinner tables tables, comfy sofas for a catch up with a friend upstairs and several of spaces for those who go there to work. They also have alcohol licence for those who would rather have a cocktail or a glass of wine. My personal choice of coffee there is ALWAYS an iced latte, their black coffee is unforntely very bitter and staff can be uninterested in bringing in more business e.g. not being greeted when you come in, no-one to take your order. Saying this, I still end up going there a lot as I love the location and decor.
LOST IN THE LANES
I am going to start by saying they offer something called a ' Unicorn Latte ', if that hasn't convinced you yet, wait till you see the pictures below. It's a great central location being i the heart of the lanes. The staff is super friendly, drinks and food are amazing and it's a perfect place for a cosy break.
Another Brighton chain, with very quickly decor. Being in multiple locations and again, having consistency, it's also my go - to cafe. The coffee is great, they do amazing specials in the summer and it's a great place if you are looking for somewhere to work.
THE PLANT ROOM
Another great gem, hiding in the lanes. The staff is extra friendly, and are always happy to meet your coffee needs, I am partially fussy when it comes to coffee and they never mind going out of the way to serve it exactly how I like it!
This one is possibly the most interesting one all of al them. I have walked past this cafes HUNDREDS of times and I refuse to do it because it looked to ' hippy ' for me. When don't be an ignorant, stupid head like me because you are missing out! It's a cafe meets antique shop meets music venue that serves only vegetarian food. It is possibly also the best food in Brighton. Try one of their cakes or a goat's cheese toasted sandwich.
The latest additional in my list, as Fika has only been open since 2019. Also not technically a cafe. It's a beautiful child of Backyard Coffee and Cracked where amazing coffee meets OUT OF THIS WORLD egg sandwiches. Cannot recommend enough.
